Dr. Manga Devi's providential meet with Mother Teresa in 1977 resulted in an extension of the activities mainly to the welfare of the needy. Thus emerged CHETANA - a Multipurpose Rural Project in a village Chowdavaram near Guntur. It has become the hub of all welfare activities for the uplift of downtrodden women, children, and the deprived.

Rural school Nandana Grameena Pathasala for Child Labourers, School on Wheels, Toy Library, Children's village, Rehabilitation and employment to the destitute women, shelter for the uncared old, Rural Health Center etc. are some of the ongoing projects at Chetana.
